Who doesn't love donuts? Whether you like glazed, chocolate or even sprinkles, you know it's going to taste good every time you sink your teeth into it. Yes, I'm talking about those small ring-shaped fried cakes. Everyone loves them and they have become very popular over the years. Donuts have been around for many years now. Throughout the years, more and more flavors have been made and there is more variety than ever before.
Nowadays, places like Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme have become very popular not only for those going to get their morning coffee but for their donuts.
Dunkin Donuts is a place that we all know and love. Some of us go in the morning to get the day started with our morning coffee. Others, like me, just go for their donuts. The best donut they have there in my opinion is the marble frosted donut.
Donuts waiting for those hungry customers.
A dozen donuts
At Dunkin, there is a wide variety of donuts including glazed, Bavarian Kreme donut, old fashioned cake donut, strawberry frosted donut, etc. There is always something for everyone. At my house, a dozen donuts doesn't last us very long.
Yummy!
Krispy Kreme has also become a well-known donut shop over the years. At Krispy Kreme, you can find that they are always coming up with new flavors to add to their extensive list of donut flavors. They are also known for their signature treat, the original glazed donut. Some of their new limited edition flavors include dark chocolate strawberry and double dark chocolate. So for my chocolate lovers out there, you know where to go.
Here are just some of their different choices:
In recent years, smaller, family owned donut places have arisen all over. Most of which are located in small towns, like Joliet. For those of you looking for a more of a family run business, than I know exactly where you should go. In Joliet, Illinois there are two places that I recommend. I recommend Home Cut Donuts and Donut Den. These are places that the community knows well and they are their regulars.
While these places aren't known all around the world like the others, they offer good donuts and even good service. Every time I go there, I always get great service and it makes me want to come back. They make you feel right at home.
Home Cut Donuts in Joliet, IL
Home Cut Donuts may not be world famous but they have been featured on Chicago's best. Ted Brunson can agree that they have the best donuts in town. They are especially famous for their Angel Creme Eclairs that are out of this world. There is no doubt that homemade is always in season. They are also open 24 hours so you can go anytime you need donuts or just want something sweet to eat. Anytime is a good time for donuts.
Donut Den is also a good place to go. As soon as I open the door, I am greeted by the sweet smell of donuts and other pastries. Once you walk in, you see all of the delicious donuts that they have for you to choose and buy. There is also a very cozy atmosphere. It makes you just want to sit in there and eat donuts all day. I know that happens to me when I go there. What makes this donut shop different from others is that they make their donuts right in front if you. You actually get to see what you're going to buy.
Although, don't plan on going late at night. They are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. So if you want to get your donuts, make sure to get there on time. Some say that it's worth it though. For those who like to wake up early, the donuts are made fresh daily so the best ones are early in the morning.
Overall, I prefer Dunkin Donuts because I go there often. I am always satisfied with what I get. The service is ok. Some days are better than others but my experience always has more good than bad. They have a very large variety and their prices aren't so bad either. If I had the choice, I would be there sitting at a table. I would be watching the cars pass as I sip my coffee and enjoy my marble donut. Yummy!

Don't forget that National Donut Day is June 7rd, 2013! Be sure and go to your favorite donut place to get yourself favorite donut! There is never a bad time for donuts, ever.
